FG Honours Twelve Civil Servants
Twelve Federal Civil Servants have been honoured by the Federal Government for their punctuality, commitment and dedication to their official responsibilities.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Mrs. Winifred Oyo-Ita who presented certificates of commendation and a Laptop to each of the twelve officers today in Abuja during the Permanent Secretaries’ service wide meeting said that the award was in keeping with her promise to honour, reward and encourage hard work in the Federal Civil Service.
According to her, the officers that are honoured today were those she met at their duty posts exactly by 8: am when she paid an unscheduled visit to the Phase one of the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja last year.
Mrs. Oyo-Ita said that her visit to the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), was to see how staff aligned themselves with the change mantra of the present administration.
She said that the event today is a proof to other civil servants that she is serious about ensuring that civil servants must be seen to function as agents of change by being EPIC- Efficient, Productive, Incorruptible and Citizen Centred, in order to accelerate economic growth and development in the country. Stressing further that she “walk the talk”.
The Head of Service warned that Civil Servants who are in the habit of abstaining from their duty posts without prior permission or who report to work late or even close before the official working hours would henceforth be sanctioned according to the Public Service Rules.
She called on the Permanent Secretaries to adopt the system of paying unscheduled visit to staff in their Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) so as to encourage efficiency and productivity
