Entrepreneural Skills and Innovations Germane to National Development – HOS

The Head of Service Mrs Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita has noted that Entrepreneurial skills and Creative innovations are vital tools for National development if properly harnessed and imbibed by Nigerian students at an early stage in their academic pursuit. She added that ‘’if given a conducive and favourable environment, the best can be received from Nigerian students’’. She also stated that potentials can only shine if it evolves in a good and conducive environment, citing cases of Nigerian students who do very well outside the shores of her Nation. The Head of Service made this statement when she received members of the National Association of Nigerian Students in her office.

The Head of service also called on Nigerian students to embrace the change mantra of the new administration geared towards eradication of youth unemployment with the development of the Non-Oil sectors and the provision of cash transfer plan to cater for skill acquisition and Innovations.


Mrs Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita, further said taking a leaf from the educational programme developed in Asia, entrepreneurial studies, technology and Innovations should be part of our University curriculum. Students should be trained on various entrepreneurial development studies such as catering, software development, Makeup Artistry, Welding etc. before graduating from the University in order to lessen the burden of unemployment in the country.


Earlier, the President of the National Association of Nigeria (NANS), Comrade Tijani Usman Shehu, said their sole aim of visiting the head of service was to partner with her office in order to reduce the rate of unemployment in Nigeria and to also push for transformational policies in the educational sector.
